Editorial Storytelling Inspired by Place

One of the strongest examples of this brand’s storytelling approach is a holiday editorial feature I created for Willow and Sage Magazine centered on Wassail Body Butter — inspired entirely by Christmas in Colonial Williamsburg.

Drawing from childhood memories of Grand Illumination, handmade wreaths, candlelight, and the warm scents of cinnamon, orange, and clove drifting through the historic streets, I developed a full visual story that translated that sensory experience into editorial content.

From concept development and recipe writing to styling, photography, prop creation, and hand-crafted design details — including tea-stained calligraphy papers aged by hand to evoke Colonial-era documents — the project was designed to create an immersive sense of place and nostalgia.

This kind of layered storytelling — where imagery, narrative, and atmosphere work together — is at the heart of how I build campaigns that resonate emotionally and create deeper audience connection.
